Jeffrey Campbell Lita

Renown blogger Rumi Neely rocking the Taupe Suede Lita

These boots have been rocking the blogger world since they debuted last fall. They were the must have then, and they are the must have now. These boots go great with jeans, dresses, and everything else imaginable.
The chunky heel, which is a huge trend this Spring/ Summer '11 season,  makes them perfect for the summer.  They come in multiple texture like suede, leather, velvet, and even pony hair; how awesome is that?!

I've wanted them for a while but they are almost always sold out. They come in almost every color and that has to be the hardest decision to make. At one point I wanted distressed mustard, then tapestry print, now I am feeling the taupe suede or even red leather. I am still unsure of which ones to get because I would want to wear them regularly and that is where the taupe would be super practical, but a bright color or bold print would really make the shoe a statement piece.

Cargo Jackets!

With every season comes a must have, and for this spring that must have would be a cargo jacket.
These jackets are great for warm and cool weather. I love to match them up with skirts and dresses for contrast, and of course they go well with jeans. The come in many different textures, prints, and colors; my favorite happens to be the Khaki.

Everyone loves them!

This is me rocking the cargo jacket trend during my spring break. I bought this jacket a year ago because I just loved the style, especially the belt. Who knew I'd be one step ahead for what is the "IT" thing?

I wore it with a simple black tank, black pencil skirt, gray socks, and brown boots and bag. The jacket has enough going on with the pockets and straps, so I didn't want to complicate things; less is more.

(Cargo Jacket: Who A U, Skirt and Purse: H&M, Tank and Over the knee socks: Forever 21, Boots: Steve Madden)
P.S. I really need to buy a good camera lol

Trend Alert: Bell Bottoms!

Inspired by the 70's, bell bottoms are rocking the street chic scene everywhere most commonly in the form of jeans. They work great for all height and body types. They elongate the legs, hide the belly bulge, and are comfortable for everyday wear. They work best with a simple top like a tank, but can even be paired with the perfect blouse.

Brands like 7 For all Mankind and J Brand have stocked up well for this season's bell bottom trend.

Take a Risk!
Bell bottoms look great in cool colors. Another trend is bold colors, so you'll be two steps ahead in bright bell bottoms. I love them and am looking for a great pair myself.

Trend Spotting: Socks and Heels

The willing display of sock with sandals have always been a controversial trend; some agree and some don't. This trend has been around for decades, probably centuries, and every time it dies the visible sock trend is not too far from being revived.
This style is great for people who would like to wear all of their shoes year 'round. The right sock can make any sandal perfect for winter. This stye can be very fun, flirty, and sophisticated all at once.

This trend hit the Burberry Spring 2010 runway hard and although that season is over, visible socks are still thriving.

Mastering the trend:
The key to rocking this style is to keep it simple. It looks great when the socks match the main color of the shoe or contrasts the shoe entirely. The more neutral the sock is, the better.

Don't let the big name behind these photos discourage you, many people who don't have stylist or the advantages of celebs also rock this trend, and they rock it well.

Scrimmage Tees

Also known as crop tees, scrimmage tees were first made cool by athletes and then trickled their way into the fashion industry.

Scrimmage tees have become very popular of the past year and people just cant seem to get enough of them. They are easy to wear and very versatile. A scrimmage tees can make any plain outfit flare.

Dont let the word crop scare you! Scrimmage/crop tees come in a variety of lengths; what makes it "cropped" is the cut; they are not fitted at all. Scrimmage tees also come in a variety of styles, patterns, and materials which make them very easy to personalize to your own style. Please do not confuse these stylish threads with belly shirts, that could cause a disaster.

Best paired with:
-cargo pants

-pencil skirts

-skinny jeans

-boyfriend jeans

-trousers

-harem pants

-and even dresses

Although very versatile, these looks can be butchered pretty easily. Even stylish women get it wrong from time to time.

Now was that scary or what? YIKES!
Back to fashion now... (lol)

Lasting Trend: Baggy Jeans

Baggy jeans paired with the right top can be both comfortable and chic!

Best paired with a:
-Fitted top

-Fitted bazer

-Parka

-Leotard

-Scrimage tee & so much more

To me, there is a difference between boyfriend fit jeans and jeans that are just plain ol' baggy. Boyfriend fit jeans have a cut, as if they were male jeans, while baggy jeans are more so female jeans a few sizes too big. I happen to love how baggy jeans fit on me and celebs do too!

Baggy jeans are perfect for any weather forecast. For me, they are a staple piece that I pull out whenever I want to be casual and cute.

A similar trend to this was popular in the 90's and worn by celebs like the groups TLC, Salt & Pepper, and most notably, the late, Aaliyah.

The cool thing about this trend is that it is very affordable, versatile, and anyone can do it; all ages, shapes and sizes.

HAVE FUN WITH IT. OWN IT.  =)

If you know me, then you know Rihanna is my FAVORITE. She is always on top of  fashion trends and for this reason...I think I will make it a tradition, a tradition to end all of my "Trend Spotting" posts with a photo of her rocking that particular trend. Sound like a deal? Okay, deal!
